What do we learn when we create a "best of" ranking? We actually learn more about ourselves than anything. Front and center are our reflections on favorites. Our favorites define us. Ultimately, there's a "best of" everything, including the best of the worst. My blogcast (a blog adaptation of a podcast) looks to discuss the "best of" everything. I'll look at the best of the worst, as well as the best of the best. Interestingly, we all love rankings. We do them all the time with our favorite subjects. You are encouraged to think of your own ranking as we go over each subject in each blogcast.
Each one of my episodes will follow a similar structure: (1) I will always give us a message inspired by the subject I'm ranking that day. I want there to be a central message because I want to underscore the value of the different subjects I'll cover in each video. (2) I will always have a warm greeting. (3) I will have a true story that inspired by choice of topic, as well as my message for each video. (4) I will encourage, in each episode, interaction. There's no reason why my audiences can't think about how they'd rank their own subjects. Finally, (5) I'll introduce my own ranking of the subject covered in each video. That ranking won't always be out of five. Sometimes the topic will lend itself to a ranking out of ten, or twenty, and so on.
What fuels my interest in this project is conversation. Some of the most meaningful, interesting, memorable conversations I've ever had in my life have always come down to some kind of silly ranking. For instance, when I meet someone new, I'll often ask them to rank the "Top 10 Interesting Things about Them."
As far as my plan goes for posting videos, you can monitor my blogcast weekly. I intend to post one per week. Not all my videos are going to be just five minutes long. Many will be much longer. You can download the YouTube app and subscribe to my channel. The blogcast isn't intended to be something you watch. You can easily listen to each video while driving to work, working out at the gym, or just working around the house.
The inspiration for my blogcast came from a conversation I had with my father not long ago. I usually visit him every weekend. It was a weekend a month ago that we talked about best cities we've visited. We love ranking different things in life. He gave me his ranking, and I shared mine. It was after this conversation that I decided a blogcast about ranking things would be a great idea.
I hope you subscribe to my channel
and continue listening. I am not making any money from this, but maybe someday! I’m in this project for the satisfaction of the work. I’m also open to your
comments and feedback, especially if you have an idea for a ranking you’d like
to have me record. I would gladly produce a video on that ranking. I hope you
enjoy!
